Several written starting in the winter of 2021 and through the spring.

    the solemn snowfall
    tree branches laid bare creaking
    remembering leaves

    ripples in the snow
    become giant mountain peaks
    dawn’s fresh perspective

    taking a moment
    spaciousness of a second
    time that is sacred

    trickle of snow melt
clouds of charcoal ride the wind
    carrying fresh scent

    amber lights reflect
    pale figures of the birches
    tonight’s lone salt truck

    smell of dust burning
heating coils brought back to life
    attracts a young cat

    slumbering beneath
    a blanket of compressed snow
    don’t forget to bloom

    lone oak on the hill
    unyielding until its time
    winds echo a sigh

    the hammer will fall
the daylight burns, moons will wane
    let the hammer fall

    mind free to breath deep
    vacant air gives permission
    space to let go

    morning water growl
bleak light casts across the room
    tea leaves bloom again

    morning smell of youth
    welcoming breeze instills hope
    could do with a walk

    woodsmoke on wet air
    mist rides heavy among hills
    snow drip becomes mud

    radiator ricks
with no rhythm to speak of
    in soft morning light

    red squirrel scampers
    among the thorns carelessly
    vanishes unscathed

    low clouds out of time
set summer hues in the sky
    summoning warm breeze

    heavy knees pull down
    hesitation between breath
    snow clouds fog the mind

    the snow drifts in
by each flake its presence known
    we too can drift in

    twigs reaching upwards
    snow gathers among the tips
    december flowers

    drip coffee settles
    purring he watches me close
    hurried commute starts

    ripples on the pond
    take me to vacant summers
    of simple wonders

    hills in a red glow
    maples beginning to wake
    despite the cold

    glass speckled, obscured
    pattering against the eaves
    warm solace inside

    mourning dove calls out
    secretes of the coming day
    try not to worry

    by the scenic route
    hoping to never arrive
    solace in stasis

    thick upon the wind
a warmth lingers on the nose
    as a street light gleams

    tiny bird atop
    content among the leaf buds
    wonder from below

    leaves rustle like waves
wind through birches in the field
    capture attention

    a cascading haze
    towers up thunderously
    threatening showers

    blossoms have faded
    as we all retreat inward
    incubating change

    doe searches alone
hooves plow up grass from the snow
    just like her mother

    white pines gathered
    planted long ago in rows
    by men with shovels

    flick of tail feathers
mist hanging low in the hills
    and cooling meadows

    perched among the air
    solitary call echos
    from between red wings

    pond surface ripples
    cascading sunlight reflects
    placid sky above

    repetitious chirp
    before the morning sunlight
    evokes summer heat
